Show-off! ;-) Just kidding. I'm visiting from Amy Lou Who's Sew and Tell and I LOVE your quilt. I love the way you nailed the value contrast, and I love how you combined a traditional pattern for the quilt top with a very contemporary-looking pieced backing, using the same or similar patterns. I just completed a drunkard's path quilt this week, almost exactly the same size as yours, also heavily quilted, so I can appreciate exactly how much hard work and wrangling you went through to complete this gorgeous project.

As for the batting, Wendy Sheppard of Ivory Springs swears by Hobbs Tuscany Wool batting. She says it quilts like butter and it's light enough that it's not so difficult to maneuver on a domestic sewing machine, but that it puffs up nicely in between densely quilted areas almost like trapunto. You might want to give it a try next time if you're itching to quilt with wool.Rebecca Gracehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14801489818836195754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6717875797969584291.post-82307421197023257902012-09-08T07:29:34.788-04:002012-09-08T07:29:34.788-04:00OH Kati, that log cabin quilt is fabulous! Maybe it will puff up a little after washing ;) I almost always buy my batting by the yard at JoAnn's - I stock up when it is on sale or use the coupons. If I can save on batting, more money for fabric, right?!)Tessa @ TheSewingChickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14939073066799859104noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6717875797969584291.post-54837652273734572182012-09-08T04:04:17.778-04:002012-09-08T04:04:17.778-04:00Beautiful quilt and your quilting work is amazing!...Beautiful quilt and your quilting work is amazing!
